Eat, Drink and Be Merry at The Pearl Kuala Lumpur with the Wine Pairing Dinner Promo!

Let’s face it, the Movement Control Order (MCO) since the COVID19 hit has affected a lot of us in so many different ways. Some are positive and some are negative. After a couple of months living under lockdown and probably stressing ourselves out, I suppose it’d be great for us to indulge ourselves in something that we really loved pre-MCO.

In my case, I enjoy great food and great company. At times, I’d like to go far away from home and just be alone to reset my mind and come back home a new person. I used to do this a lot back when I was a TV journalist. Some out-of-town assignments. Then, later, when I first became a PR Girl, I was also contributing to the in-house magazines, I got invitations to review hotels. 

Oh, right, if you haven’t read my description at the end of this page, I’m actually someone who prefers to travel for work. Even when it’s not for work, I’ll still be working on something at least. I’m just weird like this!

So, when The Pearl Kuala Lumpur launched its new promo “The Wine Pairing Dinner”, I was intrigued to see the 5-course menu. A nice dinner always starts with soup (or salad, now that I need to be on a strict diet, LOL!) and The Pearl KL kicks off the gastronomic adventure with a serving of Creamy Truffle Mushroom Soup, followed by Cured Salmon Spring Roll. This can pass as a serving of salad, right? Well, here’s to hoping! The other appetiser sounds equally delicious, yet in a more sinful way – Flaming Coconut Curry Mussels. Oooh! 

You’ll be happy to know that this exclusive one-night only promo offers you two delectable options for the main course – the Wagyu Lover or the Grilled Lamb Rack. Oooh, this leaves me completely unsettling. I mean, God knows how much I love anything lamb (no, sorry, Mary, the little lamb has to go) – grilled, curry, mandy, whatever! But I’m also eager to find a place that serves good wagyu. Don’t even remind me that one time I had wagyu at one of these mainstream wagyu restaurants just to spend more than RM300 for something that tasted like regular aged beef. Sorry, I won’t name-drop here!

I’ll let you know once I’ve decided on the choice of main dish! 

And finally, to end an exclusive dining experience, The Pearl KL insists that you make just enough space for dessert so they can indulge you with their Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Cake later. Seriously, as I’m writing this entry, I’m also counting the calories I’d pile on and how many gym sessions it would take to burn them.

Anyway, here’s how the wine pairing dinner works. 

The Cured Salmon Spring Roll is paired with Banfi Tener Brut N/V.

The Flaming Coconut Curry Mussels are paired with Banfi Le Rime Toscana IGT 2018.

The Main Course is paired with Banfi Col Di Sasso Toscana IGT 2018 and Banfi Cum Laude Toscana IGT 2016. 

And finally, the dessert is paired with coffee or tea, LOL! 

In all honesty, I’m not a snobbish wine connoisseur who can tell different wines apart. Besides, I’ve stopped drinking for more than 5 years now, I think. Even when I was living the hedonistic life (oh, come on, we’ve all been there!), I was more of a vodka girl. As for wine, I usually opted for white, even when I was eating red meat, haha! 

So, this coming 3 September 2020, I’ll be coming for dinner with someone who can finish off my wine portion and drive me home safely. I’m just so excited!
